Pottery was the first module my class participated in, the teacher was Mr. O’Connor. We started off with making name plates and then we were taught how to make pinch pots. Pottery was a very enjoyable class. After the pots we were allowed to create what we wanted and I made a dead tree stump. After waiting a week or so for the moisture to leave the clay Mr. O’Connor fired all the pieces. The next class we had all our pieces had been fired and they had turned a pinkish colour and they were ready glazing. You have to be very careful with the glaze and the fired pieces as they are brittle and can easily crack. After glazing the pieces they are put back into the oven and fired once more. This time when they come out they are shiny and bright colours. The pieces are then done and they can be taken home or left in the pottery room upon collection.
