We started doing the barista course in town on south Anne street on the 4th of November. On the first day we learned about the different types of coffee and where they come from and how it's processed. I found it really interesting as I like coffee. The next week we moved to their shop on west Moreland street and started using the different machines and grinders. We all pulled our first shot of coffee. The next few weeks we repeated pulling shots of coffee to get as efficient as possible. We then moved onto steaming milk. It was definitely harder then pulling shots but I found it easier then some others. We practised making different types of coffees and taking orders as fast as possible for the rest of the course. It was really enjoyable. My favourite part was all the free coffee.
I had my three hours of work experience in their shop on south Anne street on the 7th of march. I started off working the till and then moved to making the actual coffee. It was a really good experience and I'm definitely going to try and get a part time job as a barista.
