I was really looking forward to Carlingford as I'd heard good things about it from teachers, students and people outside of school. I tried to pack as efficiently as possible. When I saw everyone else with lots of luggage I was a bit worried that I'd under packed but I think most people just over parked. On the first day we played laser tag in the forest,it was one of the best activities. It was a good way to start to the week. I was quite happy with the room I was put in, I get along with everyone in there. I knew that no one would be to hyper and that we would actually get sleep.
Everything we did was enjoyable, nothing was at all bad. Many people disagree with me but I actually thought the canoeing was one of the better activities we did. It was an extremely cold day but it could still be enjoyable if you didn't think or dwell on the pain in your hands and feet. As a group I don't think we complained too much, I think everyone buckled down and tried to enjoy themselves. At the end I was part of a very small group that decided to go pier jumping. I think it's the coldest I've ever been and I got a brain freeze immediately but I'm glad I did it.
The most challenging activity I took part in was the high ropes. I wouldn't say I'm afraid of heights but I'd rather be close to the ground than high up on a skinny plantform that's wobbling like crazy. It was like I was having an argument with myself, part of me really really did not want to go up and do the leap of faith but I knew I would regret it if I didn't. So forcing myself not to think about it next thing I knew I was standing up on the platform. I had a moment where my brain went blank and I just wanted to be back on the ground but I calmed myself down, took a moment to catch my breath and again next thing I knew my hands I was jumping in the air about 30 feet up and my hands are on the bar and I was going back down. I was really glad I put myself outside my comfort zone looking back now I would say it was one of the highlights of the trip.
Overall the whole thing was fantastic. I feel the whole year group got along well as far as I know there were no big fights and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, I know I did. I would recommend the centre to anybody looking for that kind of thing and I would like to thank you for the opportunity.
